Original Gentleman on a Chestnut Horse on White Bridle Rosette Pin Brooch

An original bridle rosette featuring a gentleman on a chestnut horse with a white background, now as a pin brooch. Horse bridle rosettes were decorative glass domes with pictures. They were brass backed with a bracket fitting so bridle leather could slide through. Each horse would have a pair of rosettes on either side of his head. These special antique rosettes have since been made into weighty pins. The picture motifs cover all subjects-from horses and dogs, ducks and cattle, to machinery, covered wagons, windmills, and boats-to any number of stylized period designs.
