Riding Boot Pendant
Posted on 21st Jun 2016
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. Sometimes this is true. We know a young dressage rider who was absolutely inspired by watching Charlotte Dujardin on Valegro a few years ago during the Olympics. The long hours she's spent in the saddle after this moment, doing her best to build skills and master her form are an absolute homage to her idol.
But not all imitation is flattery. This is especially true in the fashion world, where unscrupulous people copy popular ideas all of the time. No sooner does a designer's collection hit the runways than someone, somewhere, starts producing knock-offs. Obviously these knock-offs don't match the original, especially in terms of quality, but people are sometimes fooled into paying top dollar for what they thought were original designer looks.
This has happened with one of our signature pieces of fine equestrian jewelry, the 14K Gold and Sterling Silver Riding Boot Pendant. Horse people absolutely love this pendant: it's a large (2 1/2" long!) substantial (17 grams!) eye catching emblem of the riding life. For a quarter of a century, our Master Craftsman has been producing these pendants right here in the USA. We sell them with pride, knowing they are truly best-in-class.
There are copycats out there. These imitations are not flattering - not by a long shot. These lookalikes don't feature the same high quality sterling silver and 14K gold; the exquisite detailing is not there. Instead of luxurious silver the knockoffs feature pot metal with a paper-thin plating that wears away very quickly. It's a definitely disappointing experience, particularly if the pendant was given as a gift.
These copy cat versions come onto the market every so often. We're currently seeing them again and so wanted to warn all of our friends & customers to avoid the lookalike. The price point is nearly identical, and we believe that if you're paying for fine jewelry, you should get fine jewelry! We're proud to stand behind our version. For 25 years, it's been delighting horsewomen and we're sure it will please you. Accept no substitutes: we've got the riding boot pendant you've been looking for!
